Dr. Moira Somers is one of Blackwood’s founding partners. A Neuropsychologist and Family Wealth Consultant, she specializes in family dynamics and the psychology of wealth. She works with enterprise-owning families to assist in personal and business transitions of all kinds.

In her role as Blackwood’s Chief Learning Officer, Moira is deeply committed to developing the talents and capabilities of the in-house team as well as the multi-generational families they serve. She is a faculty member at the Ultra High Net Worth Institute, where she chairs the Family-Advisory Relationships domain. She is also on faculty at the Financial Transitionist® Institute.

The author of Advice that Sticks, Dr. Somers is a featured guest and writer for many financial advising / family office podcasts and publications. She is currently writing a book on ethics in financial services. Financial planning organizations and regulatory bodies around the globe call on her for training on the complexities of family wealth and overcoming financial non-adherence.
When she doesn’t have her nose in a book, Moira is apt to be playing harp (badly but enthusiastically) and gardening. She lives with her family in Manitoba.
